Daily Blends also donates all unsold food to local food banks and charities, runs a sustainable business using only reusable and recyclable packaging, and partners with local producers and growers for their raw produce.
Who is your dream vending machine guest?
Beyonce! I grew up listening to Destiny’s Child and idolized her.
What is your favourite ingredient and how does that fit into Daily Blend’s offerings?
Mangoes! We use them for preparing our fresh mango and mint salsa that we layer in our Jerk Chicken Bowl. Mangoes are juicy, sweet, refreshing and have a comforting tropical flavor.
What is the most amusing/ weirdest thing you have ever seen in a vending machine?
A building-sized luxury car vending machine dispensing porsches and lamborghinis in Singapore.
If Daily Blends were a condiment… What would it be and why?
I think Salsa. Salsa adds a fun kick of freshness and spiceness to any meal, elevating the taste and it’s healthy too. At Daily Blends, we make our salsas in-house from scratch and use in a couple of our dishes, such as a roasted tomatoes chilli salsa in our Mexican Quinoa Salad.
What would be Daily Blends’ theme song?
The Rembrandts a.k.a Friends theme song.
What is your proudest entrepreneurial moment?
Starting Daily Blends after immigrating to Canada during the covid pandemic. We faced many obstacles, had failures, but we got up and tried again every single time. Being persistent and having a positive attitude has helped us and I would recommend every entrepreneur to keep husting towards achieving your goals!
What is always in your fridge? Pantry?
Chocolate! I have a big sweet tooth. At the same time, I am always trying to eat clean and healthy foods. That's how my sister, Purva and I came up with the recipe of our Chocolate Cookie Dough Balls after countless recipe testings in our condo kitchen. Our decadent cookie dough balls are made using oats, almond butter, cocoa and maple syrup - all good things. And my fridge is always stocked with a lots of these energy bites! :)
Do you follow a recipe or play it by ear?
Cooking is an art in my opinion. We came up with the recipes for all our meals, that we stock in our smart fridges, by pure experimentation and spending many hours doing recipe trials. I definitely think that’s the best way to go about it by being creative. Now that we’ve found the perfect ingredient combinations and cooking methods, we have standardizations in place.
What is on the horizon in 2023?
Our main focus is to make high quality, fresh and healthy food truly accessible. This year, we’re working towards setting up more fridge locations throughout the city for everyone to have access to them. We really want to engage more with our community and guests and will be participating in local food fests, and host food sampling events too.
