22 Qs with Dallas Rodin
06.10.25
Ever wonder what kind of drink your inner saboteur would order at a bar? Meet Dallas Rodin—a Nashville-based artist, pickle connoisseur, boat-docking savant, and future ABBA tribute band member—whose creativity flows as unpredictably (and delightfully) as a can of Wild Card. In our latest 22s spotlight, Dallas serves up hot takes, mezcal dreams, and the kind of thoughtful chaos we live for. From blood orange margaritas to conversations with their subconscious, here’s a peek inside the wonderfully wired mind of a Barbet regular.
1. If your art had a taste, what flavour of Barbet would it be?
Wild card for sure. Never know what you’re gonna get but always a lil spicy!
2. What’s the most Canadian thing you’ve done in the last week?
Watch the leafs lose game 5.
3. What’s the one thing you can’t live without in your studio (besides your instruments)?
A damn phone charger lol. My phone is always dying.
4. Do you have a pet?
Yes! My sunny boy Marvin. Cutest cockapoo you’ll ever see.
5. If so, if you could swap places with your pet for a day, what do you think you’d do?
Sleep all day…lord knows I need it.
6. If you were to get a completely random tattoo, what would it be?
I recently moved to Nashville so I’d love to get some sort of lucky horseshoe.
7. What’s one thing on your bucket list you’re determined to cross off?
Write a billboard top 100 song!
8. If you could be part of any band (past or present), who would you want to jam with?
ABBA 100%.
9. Finish this sentence: "You should never try to..."
Please everyone.
10. If your music had a favorite drink, what would it be?
A blood orange mezcal marg. Little bit dark & mysterious with the smoky aftertaste yet still a lil sweet & dream like with the blood orange.
11. What’s the most unusual food you’ve tried while traveling?
I’m honestly pretty cautious when I’m travelling 😬 I’ve gotten food poisoning one too many times so I haven’t really dabbled with anything out of the norm.
12. Do you have a go-to method for overcoming creative blocks?
Sometimes I’ll call up a friend to give me 5 random words & make it a mission to write a song incorporating those words. Helps relieve the pressure & bring back the fun in songwriting.
13. Got a favourite catchphrase or a quirky saying you live by?
I don’t think I have any quirky sayings I live by BUT my favourite saying is “everything happens for a reason.” It's a constant reminder that things will always work out the way they need to…even if we can’t see the bigger picture in that exact moment.
14. What's the most bizarre inspiration you've had for a song?
I have an EP coming out soon & one of the songs is a conversation between myself & my inner saboteur. Throughout the song, the perspective flips between the confident, self assured version of myself & the doubtful “id” like side that lives in my subconscious. It’s a very me vs me song which was an interesting process to write through.
15. What’s the most random skill you’ve picked up in life that’s surprisingly useful?
Driving / docking a boat.
16. Describe the perfect pickle.
Crunchy, dill & preferably in a burger.
17. Who's your favourite White Lotus character?
Aimee Lou Wood as Chelsea was hilarious in season 3.
18. If you could only use one app for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Pinterest or TikTok. I can’t decide!!
19. What's your favourite colour?
Cheetah print.
20. If you could only drink one beverage for the next month, what would it be?
Barbet ;)
21. Sweet or savoury?
Oof so tough. Lately I’ve been on a savoury kick but I do love a sweet treat on the regular. I’ve been obsessed with making those frozen dates with peanut butter & covering them with dark chocolate. So so good.
22. Last thing you Googled?
Nothing crazy, just the nutbar menu. So “Toronto” of me haha.
